Monitoring Student Progress
During internships, I had the opportunity to assist my School Counseling Supervisors in monitoring student progress.
At West Powellhurst, I had the opportunity to:
o Confirm health, academic, or behavioral concerns or needs that teachers had about a student
o Fill out appropriate forms for 504 and IEP files
o Determine if individual/ group counseling might support student(s)
o Inform the SIT team
o Provide paperwork for the 504 or IEP process
At Centennial High School, I had the opportunity to:
o Classes needed to graduate
o Student interests and skills (for career planning purposes)
At West Powellhurst, I had the opportunity to:
- Participate on the IPBIS team used behavioral data such as the number of warning and the results from CICO (check in check out) to determine future interventions for students.
- Review student cumulative files for a variety of purposes:
o Confirm health, academic, or behavioral concerns or needs that teachers had about a student
o Fill out appropriate forms for 504 and IEP files
- Observe students in classroom settings in order to:
o Determine if individual/ group counseling might support student(s)
o Inform the SIT team
o Provide paperwork for the 504 or IEP process
At Centennial High School, I had the opportunity to:
- Access ESIS student database for information regarding students
- Collect information and notes from individual meetings into files
- Analyze student transcripts to determine:
o Classes needed to graduate
o Student interests and skills (for career planning purposes)
- Use Edmodo for assignments and grading of Career Peer Counselors
