Action Research Project: Career Peer Counseling Program
An Overview of the Process
As part of Portland State's School Counseling Program, each Masters candidate is asked to develop an Action Research Project relevant to their work at one of their internship sites. Once a counseling intervention has been identified as worthy of research and assessment, a thorough research proposal is developed and submitted to the Human Subjects Research Review Committee (HSRRC) at Portland State. When the project is approved by the HSRRC board, research is conducted and data collected in strict accordance to the approved proposal outline. Upon completion of research, the Masters candidate completes a literature review and full analysis of the data obtained in the study.
