Job Description: School Counseling Intern
August 2011- May 2012
- Assisted in promoting and implementing the comprehensive school counseling program according to ASCA guidelines.
- Led the Career Peer Counseling Program to provide career resources to 1800 students, grades 9-12.
- Developed and implemented an individual career peer counseling program as part of an Action Research Project, resulting in a full research paper.
- Trained and supervised 20 high school students as Career Peer Counselors as they met with their peers.
- Met with individual students regarding social/emotional concerns and improving academic success, as well as future career advisement.
- Used education technology (Edmodo, Facebook Page & Google Groups) to communicate, give assignments, track grades, and provide support.
- Co-taught class lessons regarding such topics as the prevention of suicide, and planning for community college.
